Healing Place Testimonials It is my pleasure to write a testimonial in support of, not only the effectiveness of veterinary homeopathy, but also its importance as a successful 'last resort' intervention after failed and/or unacceptable western veterinary treatments. Seven years ago, I adopted a female shepherd cross, approximately 2 years old. She had been psychologically and physically traumatized for all of that time. She had been over-used as a breeder dog, tied up alone in an open carport, her jaw wired shut to stop her frightened crying and barking. Her teats were encrusted with severe mastitis. She was taken from that carport by an organization dedicated to the rescue of such desperate animals. When I got her, she had recently been dragged by a car and had sustained a serious injury to her front leg. Although normal with other dogs, with people she was pathetically eager to please to the point of grovelling on her belly if she though she was even mildly out of favour. Hats off to Western veterinary medicine for doing an excellent job on her crushed leg, her mastitis and in spaying her. But that is where it ended for me. A couple of weeks later, I discovered that she was severely incontinent. I was also concerned about the deep psychological trauma she had suffered. I spent several weeks seeking solutions from traditional veterinary medicine with absolutely no satisfaction. I should say at this point, that for many years, I have engaged in natural healing, spiritual awareness and the eating of organic food. In other words I adhere to the philosophy (now adopted by all intelligent scientists) of the unity of mind/body/spirit. They cannot be separated so that the one does not affect the other. My animals are treated similarly. I want their medical practitioners to do the same. Every traditional veterinarian that I consulted (4) isolated her incontinence as a discrete symptom and prescribed the female hormone, diethylstilbestrol FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. I need not comment on the adverse research findings in humans after only small, short-term doses. Her trauma was dismissed as untreatable, its possible connection to incontinence was ridiculed, and any diet other than commercial kibble was frowned upon. I was frustrated and depressed. A friend recommended veterinary homeopathy about which I knew nothing. I went to the Healing Place Veterinary Clinic in North Vancouver. What a difference! It was a pleasure to converse with a practitioner who saw the whole animal, who recognized the deep-seated nature of her trauma and its impact on her physical body and who saw the possible connection to her incontinence. Nine months after consulting him, my dog was no longer incontinent and she was generally a more confident dog. She relapsed 3 months later, the remedy was prepared to fit the now changed holistic picture, and again 3 months later. My dog has now been incontinent free for 5 years and her confident well-being shines through her coat and her eyes. She owes most of it to the persistent dedication of a fine homeopathic veterinarian. I cannot pretend to know what he did. It is sufficient to know that it was benign, and effective over the long term with respect to her whole being. It is the only approach to health that makes any sense to me - especially for a dog whose physical symptoms had been so traumatic with such far-reaching psychological (and, if you will permit me, 'spiritual') consequences. It should be self-evident that all homeopathic veterinarians are also traditionally trained and call upon those skills when necessary. Unfortunately the converse is not true for traditional veterinarians and — for that matter — physicians who are still locked in the old paradigm. Some of them further compound the problem because, in fearing for their livelihoods, they protest to their professional bodies, castigating proven practices of very long-standing about which they know nothing. I want to thank you for your gentle and effective healing of my two cats using homeopathy. In 1998, before I learned of homeopathy, my then 4 year old cat Sparky developed a blockage due to the formation urinary crystals. He received emergency catheterization and was put on a special diet and tranquilizers, as it was assumed that stress and anxiety caused the crystals to form. I would like to say that I have personally been helped by homeopathic and holistic treatments over the years and, more recently, by the Healing Place, who has treated my 5 year old Standard Poodle dog most successfully, with homeopathic remedies. The dog, who came to us as a small puppy with severe digestive problems, is now thriving and eating normally. His ear infection, which developed over the years from the digestive problems, has now healed impressively and we look forward to a long and happy life for him. Please be assured that both homeopathy and holistic practitioners have helped many people, including medical practitioners, lead better and more healthy lives by their professional care and remedies.
